Jewish settlers set fire to West Bank mosque

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Extremist Jewish settlers Wednesday dawn torched Jaba'a village mosque near the West Bank city of Ramallah after writing racist slogans on its walls.

Head of Jaba'a village council Numan Hamdan said in a statement that the attackers have torched parts of Al-Huda mosque before a group of Palestinian workers who were heading to their work managed to put the fire out.

The settlers also sprayed graffiti on the walls of the mosque, Hamdan said, adding that the blaze damaged the inside parts of the mosque.

The village has been repeatedly attacked by Israeli soldiers and extremist settlers, he added.

The Palestinian Minister of Awqaf and Religious Affairs, Yousef Edais strongly denounced the arson attack, saying it was part of the systematic racist acts Israeli settlers commit against the Palestinians and their holy sites in the occupied Palestinian territories.
