Power consumption in China surge 5.4 percent


(MENAFN) Power consumption in China went up 5.4 percent in the January-March period of this year versus the corresponding period a year earlier, Xinhua reported. The country's National Energy Administration (NEA) released data that reveals an increase of 7.2 percent in power use last month. The NEA said that electricity use in the primary industry dropped in the first quarter to 17.4 billion kwh, down 7 percent on year. The secondary industry's power use, however, increased 5.3 percent from the same quarter in 2013 to reach 913.3 billion kwh.
