Afghanistan beat Zimbabwe in 1st ODI by 154 runs


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan defeated Zimbabwe by 154 runs in the 1st One Day International (ODI) match played in Sharjah Cricket Stadium, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

After winning the toss, the Afghanistan decided to bat first and gave Zimbabwe 334 runs target in 50 overs game. Rahmat Shah brilliant 114 off 110 balls helped his side build huge target.

Najibullah Zadran played a breezy knock of 81 unbeaten from 51 balls smashed five sixes, give the bowlers some jitters. On the other hand Ihsan Janat started well hit 54, Shahzad Mohammadi 36 and Nasir Jamal scored 31 runs.

The Zimbabweans were bowled out by 179 and Afghanistan won by 154. Afghan bowlers played well and did not allow the opposition to play free shots.

Rashid Khan once again the wrecker-in-chief, taking four vital wickets, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, the 16-year-old off spinner playing his third ODI opened the bowling for Afghanistan and picked up two wickets.

Even Rahmat chipped in, dismissing Kyle Jarvis to hasten their 154-run victory and walked away with the man of the math award.
