UN to allocate USD5.9m for drought victims in N. Korea


(MENAFN) The United Nations posted that it has approved a new order to give North Korea USD5.9 million in order to support the country's recovery efforts from severe droughts.

According to U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the UN Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF) aims to channel the supply to 5 U.N. agencies in the North.

On the other hand, the sources revealed that a USD2.8 million and USD2.5 million are estimated to be handled to UNICEF and WFP, respectively, in order to tackle health concerns for drought people and avoid drought-related illnesses.
