BCCI seeks applications for head coach

(MENAFN- NewsBytes) 26 May 2017: BCCI seeks applications for head coach

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have sent out a notice, inviting applications for the post of head coach of the Indian cricket team.

Anil Kumble's term of one year will end after the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy next month.

The board has set 31 May as the last date to apply for the role.

Fact: Anil Kumble to get direct entry?

Even though the current coach Anil Kumble will get a 'direct entry', he will have to go through the entire process if he wishes to continue for the second term. Kumble will also present his case in front of the Cricket Advisory Committee.

Process: What will be the selection process?

The applications submitted to the BCCI will be reviewed by a three-member Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) consisting of Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar.

The trio will then conduct interviews and will select the best possible candidate for the post.

The press release said that a nominee of the Committee of Administrators will overlook the process to ensure a fair and transparent process.

Fact: BCCI not happy with Kumble

Even after guiding India to the top rank in the tests, BCCI seems unhappy with Kumble. One of the reasons could be Kumble's suggestion of increasing the salary of Indian players and the head coach.
