An experimental Windows PCs prototype of Playora launched in April 2016, following £243,000 investment for R & D.
We aim to launch an iOS and Android version of Playora in August 2017.
Despite billions of smartphones holding photos, videos and music, we've yet to see a simple and consistent way to cast media to other smartphones, tablets, streaming boxes or Smart TVs. Basic sharing functions are available on some systems, but users are often constrained to sharing between branded devices e.g. Samsung phone to Samsung TV.
Playora for iOS and Android devices will enable users to view and share any photo, video, audio file or video stream from their smartphone or tablet, to any other compatible screen, near or far.
Our Windows PC prototype demonstrates local and web video pushed to a range of off-the-shelf Smart TVs from Samsung, LG, Sony, Panasonic, JVC, and Hitachi. Our market research shows a strong appetite for our app, with a 92% positive response from a random sample of 250 Internet users. Based on this, we estimate a global target market of 1.5 billion smartphone owners. Mobile app annual gross revenues are estimated to have a 20% CAGR, with the market forecasted at $76.5 billion in 2017.
