UAE Consul-General and Chief Executive of Hong Kong discuss relations

HONG KONG, 27th September, 2016 (WAM) -- Nabila Al Shamsi, UAE Consul-General to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Leung Chun-Ying, Hong Kong's Chief Executive, have discussed relations between the two countries in various fields.

The Chief Executive of Hong Kong welcomed the UAE Consul-General, wishing her a pleasant stay.

Mr. Chun-Ying stressed the importance of Hong Kong's role in the 'Belt and Road' Chinese Initiative, which includes 65 countries. He also highlighted the keenness of the Hong Kong Region to promote strategic, commercial and investment relations with the UAE, in addition to promoting cooperation in cultural and educational aspects as an essential part of the initiative.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the upcoming visit of John C. Tsang, Financial Secretary of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, to Dubai during November, calling it an important step to boost economic and trade relations.
