Knowledge without Borders a Key Draw at ATM 2016

(MENAFNEditorial) The Sharjah-based cultural project 'Knowledge without Borders' (KwB) has proved a top draw at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2016, which recently concluded in Dubai. KwB's ongoing activities to develop Sharjah's social and cultural spheres, which have helped transform the emirate into the region's premiere cultural and tourist destination, piqued the interest of experts and visitors to the exhibition who were effusive in their praise of the project's numerous heritage-promotion activities. KwB concluded its successful participation at ATM 2016 at Sharjah Commerce & Tourism Development Authority's pavilion. Visitors to the stand praised the '1001 Titles' initiative launched in February this year, which aims to introduce 1,001 new Arabic publications to the market in 2016 and 2017 and to establish libraries in homes across the country. The initiative was introduced to be in line with 2016 being the 'Year of Reading' in the UAE. Rashid Al Kous, General Manager of Knowledge without Borders, said; "ATM 2016 is the region's foremost annual platform for exhibitors and experts from across the globe who have an interest in travel and tourism. It provides the perfect opportunity to promote KwB's numerous successful heritage-related initiatives and projects that aim to enrich Emirati cultural and intellectual productivity. The exhibition is the ideal platform for us to network, exchange experiences and reach out to the biggest global travel audience under one roof." He added; "KwB's successful participation in this event saw many ATM visitors introduced to our 1001 Titles project that celebrates 2016 as the Year of Reading, in line with the directives of Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Head of Knowledge without Borders' Organising Committee. 1001 Titles will see the distribution of many thousands of books and the establishment of libraries in homes across the region." KwB will be continuing its campaign to promote 1001 Titles by participating in a variety of local, regional and international activities and events. The organisation is committed to communicating with a variety of institutions and bodies who are willing to learn more about the initiative in order to ensure its implementation by the best possible means. KwB was launched by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah and is supervised by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Head of its Organising Committee. The initiative aims to establish reading as a noble habit in every household in the UAE by encouraging the establishment of home libraries and filling these libraries with the best reading material across a variety of genres suitable for the whole family.
