There is no hope in sight for traffic woes for Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC) residents as three exits and entry points into the freehold community are likely to remain closed.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said during a live #ChatWithRTA session on Twitter on Monday that the responsibility of the road openings lay with the developer Nakheel.

However angry residents pointed out that the developer had done its job. "No it does not as the developer side infrastructure is complete it is the RTA side which is not" said Andy Turner who tweets from papalurchdxb. The RTA had the same reply when asked about ongoing roadwork in Dubai Media City. "Regarding roadwork in Media City it is related to the developer. However RTA provides internal roads parallel to the Dubai Tram" said RTA.

Residents also questioned the authority over the payment of Salik during late hours in taxis and on weekends. "Why do we pay for Salik in cabs at all?" asked Omar who tweets from OmarDXB.

The reply from RTA led to a debate from the residents who asked the authority to reconsider the decision. However the RTA said "Salik is one of the efficient solutions RTA provides based on comprehensive traffic studies. Its gates have been installed to give the public alternative routes all over the week."

The authority also said that plans to extend tram stations will be announced in due course.

No tram stations will be closed it announced.
