In stark contrast to metal braces which may come with huge wires Invisalign uses aligners that are completely clear and discreet so no one notices them. These invisible braces allow patients to smile normally and confidently as if they’re not wearing any braces at all.
“What we do here at Kitsilano cosmetic dentist Arbutus North Dental is that we use advanced 3-D computer imaging which makes it possible for us to create a series of perfectly designed aligners for the patient’s mouth and teeth” explains Dr. Lockhart. “The fit is so perfect that it is completely comfortable for the patient to wear and there is no need for the use of any bands brackets and wires.”
The perfect fit also means that patients using Invisalign can just remove the aligners when they eat and there are no restrictions for their food. That’s not the case with metal aligners which requires some guidelines for eating.
“When a patient wears metal braces they need to watch out for hard foods such as French bread and whole apples which may break the brackets and wires” explains Vancouver Invisalign dentist Dr. Lockhart. “In fact often for the first few days the patient is advised to keep to soft foods and afterwards they may be better off cutting the food into smaller pieces first.”
Such restrictions do not apply to Invisalign patients at all. “What our patients do is just pop out their Invisalign braces first and they can eat whatever they want” says Dr. Lockhart. “They just need to make sure that they wear their aligners as close as possible to 24 hours a day.”
By being able to remove the braces easily patients can then brush their teeth with no trouble unlike those who wear metal braces who need to carefully remove the bits of food from the braces.
