Bahrain arrests suspects over deadly attack

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Chief of Public Security in Bahrain Major-General Tariq Al Hassan has said that an investigation into the terrorist blast in Sitra On Tuesday July 28, which killed two policemen and injured six, had identified the suspects and a number of them had been arrested.

In a statement carried by Bahrain News Agency (BNA), he said the forensic laboratory, after screening, gathering evidence and conducting tests, had indicated that a high-grade explosive was used to carry out the blast. It is the same substance that was seized while an attempt to smuggle explosives, automatic weapons and ammunition into the Kingdom in coordination with some Iranians was foiled on July 15.

He also added that the substance is also similar to the one seized from Dar Kulaib village in June this year from a warehouse of high-grade explosives and bomb-making materials. The substance was also seized while being smuggled into the Kingdom via the sea on 28 December 2013.

Bomb-making materials, that were seized in the previous cases, were also found at the crime scene of this case. The Public Security Chief stressed that the investigation into the case would continue to arrest the remaining suspects and bring them to justice.
