Injaz Qatar holds work readiness programme for QU students

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Injaz Qatar has delivered a work readiness programme to more than 60 students from Qatar University (QU).

The programme, titled "Steer Your Career", aims to hone the skills needed for third and final-year students to choose the right career, lead others and operate effectively in a competitive job environment.

The programme was delivered at Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA) by Amar Benaissa, director of operations from Injaz Qatar. Two QFBA employees, Donia Aqel and Zeina al-Moree, helped deliver the sessions as corporate volunteers.

Injaz Qatar executive director Emad al-Khaja said: "As part of our commitment to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in the global economy, we were delighted to see so many Qatar University students participating in the latest version of the 'Steer Your Career' programme. Through this experiential hands-on programme, students were able to learn about workforce readiness and set their expectations as they finish their university degrees and begin the search for future employment.

"The volunteers from QFBA were a great inspiration for our students and delivered engaging, interactive sessions."

The "Steer Your Career" programme helps college and university students gain leadership, time management, communication, team dynamics and job search skills. The programme is delivered through hands-on classroom activities, personal assessment, role playing and reflection exercises. Moreover, the programme helps students function successfully in today's workplace. Students are also introduced to the methods of writing CVs and covering letters.

Throughout the programme offering, around 60 students € who attended the sessions - were given the opportunity to conduct mock interviews with HR managers from QFBA, which gave them the courage to ask challenging questions and learn more about the workforce. During their final session, students were given certificates for completing the programme.

Following the course, they are now ready to take part in Injaz Qatar's Job Shadow Day, where they get to spend a day in one of Qatar's corporations and experience a real-life work environment.

Injaz Qatar, a non-profit organisation and member of Junior Achievement Worldwide, has reached around 15,000 students across 45 schools and six universities thanks to 75 corporate partners and more than 700 corporate volunteers.
