(MENAFN- Arab Times) Ministry of Health Undersecretary Dr Khalid Al-Sahlawi disclosed that the ministry has procured advanced machines to detect smoke in its facilities, confirming also the installation of alarm systems and surveillance cameras in hospitals and other health facilities to track down those who violate the Non- Smoking Law in hospitals and primary health facilities including some administrative buildings, reports Al-Jaridah daily. Al-Sahlawi affirmed the ministry is serious about arresting violators and they will be punished to serve as deterrent to others.
He explained the violation is punishable under Article 15/1995, so the ministry will be more decisive in taking steps against violators. He also urged the public not to disregard the health of others and the lives of patients. He added the installation of smoke detectors will start in three hospitals € Chest Diseases Hospital, Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Heart Diseases Center at Amiri Hospital and Al- Dabbous Heart Center in Adan Hospital € on experimental bases and later cover all facilities of the ministry. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health will host 17 senior foreign doctors and consultants in various medical specialties later this month to examine patients and carry out a number of complex and rare surgical operations.
In a press statement, Head of the Public Relations Department Faisal Al-Dosari said that the senior doctors would review a considerable number of patients suffering from chronic diseases or complicated illness at Kuwaiti public hospitals.
The consultants would also deliver a number of lectures and organize workshops and seminars to transfer their expertise to doctors at the Health Ministry's hospitals and medical centers, he said. He added that the Ministry brings in elite foreign doctors and consultants in their various fields of medicine to draw upon their expertise to upgrade medical services in the country.
