Allegations that Kuwait beefed up security at border after blast 'false'

(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY March 19: The allegation that security at the northern border of Kuwait was heightened after the suicide bombing of a truck heading to Iraq's Um Qasr Port close to Safwan Iraqi border entry with Kuwait that resulted in three deaths and five injuries is false reports Al-Anba daily quoting a reliable security source.

The source stressed 'Our border is 100 percent safe and cannot be infiltrated. We can monitor and deal with any hostile act before it crosses over the buffer zone between Kuwait and Iraq'. He explained the Interior Ministry and its agencies do not act based on reaction; hence the suicide bombing reported by some Iraqi news platforms did not change any of Kuwait's security protocol at the border which is continuously monitored through the most advanced devices and highly-efficient personnel.

He said the border patrol command was only instructed to focus on implementation of security measures without the need to raise alert levels at the border with Iraq. Earlier security sources from the Basra Province mentioned that the explosion was a result of truck driven by a suicide bomber
