(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) A stunning picture taken by Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and an avid photographer, now adorns the side of a Dubai Metro carriage unveiled recently.

The Metro carriage is one of four commissioned as part of the umbrella arts initiative by Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) - alongside works by Emirati artist Abdulqader Al Rais, Algerian artist Rachid Koraichi and Syrian artist Safwan Dahoul - to celebrate the ongoing Dubai Art season.

"We are thankful to Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed for the generous patronage extended to this initiative and the kind consent to use his photograph, a real work of art, for the first Dubai Metro carriage wrap," said Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Chairman of Dubai Culture. "This project aims to take art closer to the community and highlight the cultural soul of our city."

The art is part of a campaign by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to turn Metro stations into public spaces for the display of cultural and art exhibits celebrating the history, traditions and culture of the UAE.

In all, six of Dubai's Metro stations will be turned into full-fledged museums.

Additionally, Shaikh Hamdan toured the Fada'aat Exhibition, which explores themes like Islamic manuscripts and coins, the maritime heritage of the UAE, contemporary art, photographs of the UAE's history and the Dubai Public Library.
