Flint MI—Today marks another year that the Educational Opportunity Initiatives ACCESS Program at the University of Michigan-Flint will present their Annual Student Leadership conference (SLC) which will take place from 8:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. at the University of Michigan-Flint. The theme for this year’s conference is “Transformational Leadership.” And this year the Shop Floor Theatre Company will have a starring role.

Shop Floor Theatre Company (SFTC) founder Kendrick Jones has been selected to lead a workshop presentation entitled “Let’s Go Arts” from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.  “The overall goal of SLC is to inspire and equip attendees to become agents of change in their communities by creating more student leaders across the country” said Jones.  “Being a transformational leader is more than impacting your immediate circle of influence.  It’s also about affecting change within your entire community.”

SLC attendees are certainly in for a treat as Jones and his cast have an exciting show presentation planned.  Charged with creating an interactive workshop that engages students and inspires them to make a difference SFTC thrives on audience participation.  “We absolutely love it when the crowd gets involved.  So we can’t wait to share with the students” gushed Jones.  A portion of their presentation will include sharing real world experiences that encourage and foster a stronger learning environment.  “Sometimes students learn the most valuable lessons outside the classroom” said Jones.  “Today we plan to deliver on that.
