Kuwait Dialogue Center concludes 2nd conf.

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The second conference of Kuwait Dialogue Center (KDC), themed "sober dialogue - tomorrow's action," came to a close Sunday night after adopting a range of recommendations.

The one-day event was held under auspices of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah; its activities included a seminar that gathered participants in the debates league, organized by the student affairs dept. of Kuwait University.

The participants discussed papers on the impacts of social networking websites, the housing problem, and the sports status quo.

They recommended deepening the patriotic allegiances among the youth with a view to strengthening the social texture.

They called for solving the housing problems through introducing the world's latest models.

They commended the progress made in the implementation of the national youth project which is 50 percent complete, noting that KDC is one of the fruits of the project.

They recommended appropriating an annual budget for the KDC in order to ensure realizing its targets and delivering its message.

Earlier today Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah opened the gathering and delivered a speech in which he extolled His Highness the Amir for patronizing the event.

He highlighted the significance of national dialogue particularly among the young generation who should be better prepared for their future roles.

"It's a national responsibility for us to maintain dialogue and cement our national unity in the face of the delicate circumstances in the region," Sheikh Salman said.

"The UN naming of His Highness the Amir as Humanitarian leader and Kuwait as international center of humanitarian action prompts us to double efforts in order to show the country's bright portrait in terms of democracy, unity and cultural diversity," he pointed out.

Sheikh Salman added that the Ministry of State for Youth Affairs worked out a practical training program on dialogue among the youths in collaboration with Kuwait University.

On his part, KDC Director and Chairman of the Conference Fahad Al-Otaibi expressed gratitude to His Highness for sponsoring the annual conference for the second time.

The kind patronage by His Highness of the event materializes his keenness on promoting substantive dialogue among the youths, he added.
