Governor orders relief works in Asir
(MENAFN- Arab News) Gov. of Asir Prince Faisal bin Khalid has ordered the implementation of several relief works in the province with the participation of philanthropists in the area.
The instruction came during the annual meeting of the managers of the branch offices in the region's provinces called by regional supervisor of Asir province Sheikh Abdullah bin AbdelAziz Al-Musleh.
The meeting held Thursday expounded the accomplishments of the province in the past year presented in the annual report which was read in the presence of members of the General Assembly.
According to the annual report more than 13565 orphans including 2000 orphans in the Asir region and 200 people with special needs have been sponsored.
The report said that the Abu Bakr Mosque in Abha and more than 50 mosques in a number of Islamic countries had been constructed besides the drilling of over 200 wells in the area.
In addition seasonal projects like the Iftar project which benefited more than 3000 people this Ramadan had been implemented. The report also showed the distribution of 8000 winter blankets distributed in the provinces and centers of the region.
Some 200 water dispensers were distributed to the mosques in the area.
The report said that urgent assistance was provided to Syrian refugees in clothes food hampers tents and blankets which were sent to the Mandabah camp near Dhahran.
Executive Director Mohamed Hamidi pointed to a number of charitable programs and projects including the implementation of the construction of housing for some of the needy in the region represented by philanthropist Om Ryan in Al-Majardah.
Al-Sarhani praised the complementary work with the Coordinating Council of the region and Al-Bir Charitable Association in Abha represented by its secretary-general Mohammed bin Fahhas.
At the end of the meeting Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Hedithi vice president of Al-Bir Charitable Society in Abha was honored along with a number of branch offices of the International Islamic Relief particularly the Mahayel office in Asir and Al-Namas in Abha.
