Tokyo Stocks Fall on Monday

(MENAFN- QNA) Tokyo stocks tumbled Tuesday, with the Nikkei index falling more than 2%, dragged down by weak Chinese economic data and profit taking after the previous day's substantial gain.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 306.95 points, or 2.03%, from Monday at 14,804.28, according to (Kyodo) news agency.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 18.98 points, or 1.55%, lower at 1,205.36.

Selling took the upper hand from the opening on the heels of the market's roughly 4% surge the previous day.
