(MENAFN- QNA) The director of Aljazeera International Documentary Film Festival Abbas Aranaout announced on Sunday the the 10th edition of Aljazeera Festival will be held from 23 to 26 next October, adding that this year's edition will be organized under the motto: "Steps".

The announcement was made during a press briefing held at the Ritz Carlton Hotel.

Aranaout added the 10th edition of the festival has added two more awards. "The first one is to the best film direction while the second one to the best camerawork. They will be awarded to the best work among the three categories participating in the festival, so the awards will be eight in total." Aljazeera International Documentary Film Festival was established in 2005. The festival showcases a wide range of documentary films that discuss humanitarian, social, economic, and political issues. This is on top of the support it dedicates to young talents that work hard to have a space for expression and production.

The festival holds three competitions: a major one dedicated for TV channels; production firms; cultural, social, and media institutions; and independent producers. It comprises three categories: short films, medium films, and long films. This is in addition to the New Horizon competition that is dedicated to amateur and beginner directors and school pupils.
