Omnia fitness programme incorporates many workouts

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Omnia fitness programme incorporates so many sweat-inducing workouts into one session itll leave your head spinning.

Training on the Omnia fitness centre is sort of like playing a game of musical chairs only sweatier and more painful.

Latin for “all things” Omnia is a multi-station Technogym designed freestanding platform that allows users to incorporate different training modalities through a high-intensity programme. It essentially takes the most efficient methods of building strength endurance stability flexibility coordination and speed and condenses them into a gruelling 30-minute session.

Why was I most impressed Because after years of hard-core gym training I still managed to wake up the following day feeling sorer than I’ve been in ages. That constitutes a passing grade in the book of any serious fitness buff.

The Omnia station is made up of eight quadrants each featuring a different workout to target specific body parts. The group class allows each participant to make the rounds from one platform to the next spending 40 seconds in each quadrant with just a 20 second rest before repeating and moving on to the next station. The intensity and repetition is what separates the strong-willed from the weak and after a few minutes I’m not ashamed to admit falling headfirst into the latter.

I start off working on core rotation using cables feet firmly planted as I swing the trunk of my body left and right. The tightening of the abdominal and oblique muscles command a constant burn and I’m feeling glad to be getting this particular exercise out of the way before moving on to the punching bag.

Unleashing your inner Rocky Balboa is mandatory in order to work up enough of a frenzy to burn some serious calories so I swing away in the hopes that my wrists remain intact and ego unbruised. The line-up of sweat-inducing exercises continue with lunges using a cabled medicine ball and I can immediately tell that my legs promise to be unforgiving in the morning.

Then there’s standing push-ups against a bar set waist high cable flies for the chest and back and some burpees thrown in for good measure. The entire routine overwhelming at times moves so lightning quick that you seldom have a chance to stop and marinate in your own accomplished misery.

Engaging every muscle group with little rest in between sets are what high-intensity full-body workouts are made of. For some they are the stuff of nightmares but in truth having seven other partners alongside you makes for a truly motivational circuit that allows variety and forces consistency. Come for the pain stay for the gratification.
