Oman is free of Ebola: Ministry

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Oman's Heath Ministry said yesterday that the sultanate is free of Ebola virus, which affected many West African countries, including Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone.

Dr Mohammed bin Saif Al Hosani, Undersecretary at the ministry, said epidemic control measures at border checkpoints were activated to limit access of the diseases especially through Muscat International Airport.

He said the departments concerned are maintaining communication with regional and international organisations on the disease.

He said necessary mechanisms had been developed to deal with suspected cases and that the ministry is enhancing capabilities of health institutions to deal with the virus by raising awareness of medical teams.
