du launches 30daysofsharing campaign for ramadan

(MENAFNEditorial) In the spirit of the Holy Month, du wishes the people of the UAE and the Muslim community Ramadan Kareem. To celebrate the values represented by the month of Ramadan, du's 30 Days of Sharing campaign aims to encourage people in the UAE to come together, sharing their special moments and helping to make a difference to those less fortunate. Under the hashtag #30DaysofSharing, social media users on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook are invited to share their precious moments which make Ramadan special to them and to others. Every post made using #30DaysofSharing hashtag will see du donate AED 10 to its annual Iftar tables initiative, from which Iftar meals are distributed to those less fortunate. This year there will be three locations: next to Hazza Bin Zayed mosque in Abu Dhabi, next to Nad Al Qusais mosque in Dubai, and next to Al Fisht Mosque in Sharjah. du also invites the public to help in distributing Iftar meals at the Iftar tables locations. Volunteerism is organised in collaboration with Think Up GCC. Willing volunteers can send an email to volunteers@thinkup.ae, mentioning their mobile number along with where and when they would like to volunteer. Volunteers must be accompanied by a parent or guardian if they are younger than 18. Hala Badri, Executive Vice President, Brand and Communications, du, said: "We are all united during the Holy Month, and we invite the UAE community to share with us the most important things to them during this time of reflection. From daily habits to photographs of the mosques, Taraweeh to Douaas, gatherings with friends and family at Iftar and Suhoor around the city, Ramadan recipes and Islamic information – everyone has something special to share. We also encourage the community to use #30DaysofSharing share details of their social contributions, from volunteerism to sharing food, all in the spirit of the Holy Month of Ramadan." In addition to the AED 10 donated for ever #30DaysofSharing post, du has allocated AED 1.57 million, from 5% of the monthly fees from its Emirati Plan subscriptions, to employ 25 Emirati women who will cook the Iftar meals for a period of one month that will be distributed through the Mawaed Al Rahman locations. du urges everyone to spread the spirit of giving by using the #30DaysofSharing tag, to inspire others to do the same in order to meet the company's aim of realising the true meaning of a happy country.
