CEAPAD Conference Increases Support For Palestine


(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) The 2nd Conference on Cooperation Among East Asian Countries for Palestinian Development (CEAPAD) II has approved a joint statement vowing to continue its commitment to support the Palestinian development. At the opening ceremony, Japan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fumio Kishida, stated that the Japanese government would provide more than $200 million in aid to the Palestinian development. The one-day conference, held in Jakarta, was attended by a number of officials from the Palestinian Authority, Indonesia and other Member States of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Japan, China and South Korea, in addition to13 countries and organizations as observers. The conference, co-sponsored by Indonesia, Japan and the Palestinian Authority, aims to support the two-state solution. The first meeting of CEAPAD, held in Tokyo on February 2013, was co-chaired by Japan and Palestine. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations consists of Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand as well as Vietnam
