As chairman of Abu Dhabi Racing, Sheikh Khalid bi Faisal Al Qassimi was instrumental in establishing the new partnership with Citroën Racing on the WRC stage as part of a concentrated programme designed to reinforce the UAE capital's global motorsport stature. Abu Dhabi Racing has agreed a five-year partnership with multiple World Rally Championship-winning manufacturers, Citroën, to create the new Citroën Total Abu Dhabi World Rally Team competing in the FIA World Rally Championship.
