Kuwait - Top Officer Probed In Visa Trafficking

(MENAFN- Arab Times) The inquiry commission said to have been formed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Hamad Al-Khalid to look into transactions allegedly signed by one of the senior officers in the ministry has begun its work, reports Al-Shahed daily. The daily quoting reliable sources said a number of managers in the General Immigration Department and Service Centers, a retired officer and a number of employees have been summoned for interrogation. The committee added the authorities have 'stopped' all transactions particularly those related to visit visas and the applicants are expected to be summoned for interrogation. However, the sources said the committee has come to the conclusion that the senior officer has signed the transactions in accordance with the powers invested in him and absolved him of any money-related issues. The sources went on to say some people got their transactions completed in return for money without the knowledge of the senior officer according to the findings of the commission. The sources added the commission is expected to submit its final report to the Interior Minister by the end of this month.
