Libya political deal in process, says UN envoy


(MENAFN)A UN envoy said Thursday, that UN-led talks on a new political plan to unite Libya's rival governments are developing, and is almost within reach.

"I am quite confident we are close to a consensus." Ghassan Salame mentioned the UN Security Council after meeting with him to discuss the crisis in Libya.

The United Nations in September decided to bring peace and stability to Libya after it has been facing disordered situations since the 2011 ouster of long-time dictator Muammar Gaddafi.

A political deal that set up a Government of National Accord led by Prime Minister Fayez Al Sarraj in 2015, has been planned after two meetings held in Tunis.
