(MENAFN - Morocco World News) Rabat – Two men opened fire at the cafe "La Crème", located in the touristic area of Hivernage in Marrakech, killing one person, on Thursday evening.
Around 7:45 p.m a motorcycle type T-Max stopped in front of a cafe, located in the Chatoui district of Marrakech.
Armed with guns, the two attackers stepped down, and shot directly the victim.
"Around 19:45, a person was shot dead in a cafe in the Chatoui district of Marrakech, by two masked individuals on a motorcycle, adding that two other people, who were at the same cafe, were injured by bullet fragments," Maghreb Arab Press (MAP) said.
"The two injured victims were transferred to the Marrakesh University Hospital Center (CHU) to receive the necessary treatments," MAP added.
The victim was mercilessly shot in the presence of the cafe's customers.
According to Marrakech authorities, the shooting was an act of "settling scores," and has nothing to do with any kind of terrorist attacks.
Abdelhak Al Khayam, Head of the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ), told Maghreb Voices that "the shooting of Marrakech is not a terrorist act."
The victim is the son of the President of Beni Mellal's Court of Appeal, media reports, adding that he was a twenty-six-year-old student at the city's faculty of medicine.
Security Police forces are currently at the location of the incident to clarify the circumstances of its occurrence.
