(MENAFN - Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Oct 29: Public Security Department in an extensive campaign issued 310 citations against motorists for various traffic violations and impounded 25 vehicles, and also arrested 195 people wanted by law, reports Al-Anba daily.
The campaign, which covered all six governorates, was implemented under the supervision of acting Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah and with the directors of security commands in different governorates.
The officers arrested 40 absconders having expired residencies and 6 people wanted by law for various offenses, in addition to 108 individuals without identity cards, 4 street vendors, 32 financial violators, 3 people involved in criminal cases, 12 individuals in possession of drugs and 6 others wanted for cheating, and offered assistance to 13 callers. Public Relations and Media Security Department of the Interior Ministry has since warned citizens and expatriates against sheltering violators of law, and also urged them to carry their civil IDs at all times.
'I'm your colleague': A Kuwaiti citizen who is wanted by law for financial cases valued at KD 12,000 was arrested in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area in possession of weapons and a police uniform used by an officer of rank 'Sergeant', reports Al-Anba daily.
According to a security sources, Farwaniya securitymen had set up a security checkpoint in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area. A Kuwaiti citizen had arrived at the security checkpoint and securitymen asked him about a police uniform that was hung inside his car.
In response, the man said he is their colleague. However, securitymen were suspicious and they checked his details only to realize that he does not work for Ministry of Interior but is actually wanted by law for cases worth KD 12,000. They checked his car and found some weapons. He was arrested and his weapons were confiscated. Farwaniya Security Director Major General Saleh Matar has ordered the referral of the suspect to the Civil Execution Department.
