(MENAFN) Following reports of a man holding two hostages and carrying a shotgun, officers were at the scene in MFA bowling alley in Nuneaton. After a siege of four hours, the armed suspect was apprehended.
The police used a series of flash bangs when entering the building at around 18:30 BST. According to West Midlands Ambulance, hostages made it out unharmed, although traumatized, while the suspect was taken care of at the scene.
It was stated by Ch Supt Alex Franklin-Smith, from Warwickshire Police that the incident ended up with "a peaceful resolution". He further added that the siege was completely unrelated to terrorism.
The incident supposedly occurred when the armed man entered the MFA Bowl and shouted "game over" and kicked people out of the place. The complex is said to have had around 40-50 inside the premises. "It's obviously not an everyday situation. The ambulance, police were checking them and making sure they were OK" operations director of MFA Bowl, Chris Clegg, confirmed.
