Data of Australian jet and navy hacked

(MENAFN) Australia's sensitive information about its defence programs has been stolen in an "extensive and extreme" cyber attack.

Around 30GB of data including details about new fighter planes and navy vessels were jeopardized in the hack on a government contractor.

The violation started in July 2016, but the Australian Signals Directorate was not aware until November, and the hacker's identity is still unknown.

Defence Industry Minister said he was guaranteed the theft was not a danger to national security, while ASD officials have started repairing the system in December.
