Passenger from Sri Lanka detained in India on suspicion of carrying gold

Customs officials in India have detained a passenger travelling from Sri Lanka at Visakhapatnam airport for allegedly carrying gold in his rectum, The Hindu newspaper reported.

The passenger, whose identity is not known, arrived from Sri Lanka and officials suspected that something was wrong from the way he had walked.

Sources in the Customs said that initially it was suspected that the passenger was carrying cocaine in his stomach.

It is learnt that the passenger was sent for a full body scan and the officials are yet confirm his identity and what he was carrying.
