(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Sept 30 (Petra) –– Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Qudah said Saturday that Jordan and Algeria had a real opportunity to achieve joint economic integration and bring than barriers towards that end.
He said during bilateral talks, held on the sidelines of the Arab-African Economic Forum in Amman, that the Algerian market could be a launch pad for Jordan products to Africa, while Jordan could become a conduit for Algerian goods to the Middle East.
The minister told the meeting of the Jordanian-Algerian Business community that increased trade exchange is vital, adding that the two countries are currently discussing prospects to enhance bilateral trade.
He said Jordan also posses the potentials to be an industrial and production hub and re-export to all neighbouring countries, referring to the free trade agreements it had had signed with the United States, European Union, Canada, Turkey and Singapore.
"This means that investment in Jordan gives concessionary and competitive customs advantage to access markets with over 1 billion consumers", he told the meeting.
Qudah said that Jordan, the only Arab country with common borders with Iraq and Syria is an access point for Algerians to these markets, and that the Kingdom could be a launch pad for reconstruction in the region.
