(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) An unidentified woman in Ras Al Khaimah has bravely rescued an Asian driver from a fire after a collision between two trucks. She put out the flames using her abaya.

The woman covered the driver's body with her abaya and drove away, according to a friend of the victim.

The central operations room of the RAK Police, having been alerted of the collision, dispatched traffic police, ambulances, paramedics and rescue teams to the site in a record time.

The man was shifted to the hospital for treatment and medical care, while the Ras Al Khaimah police are on search for the brave woman in order honour her, said Major Tariq Mohamed Al Sharhan, head of the ambulance and rescue section at the RAK police.

"The mishap, which took place on Martyrs road (ex-Al Twain road), set the clothes of a driver on fire. Two trucks were involved in the accident."

The victim, identified as H. Sing, managed to escape from the burning cockpit, but only after the flames caught his clothes, he added.

"He was surprised when a woman who appeared all of a sudden, stopped her car, rushed to him, and started putting out the fire with her abaya, and covered him with it."

The victim was rushed to the hospital covered with the abaya of the unidentified woman whose swift action and intuition have saved his life.

"The victim believed that the unidentified woman was an Emirati national because of her attire, accent and way of talking."

An Emirati man, who came later to the scene, saw the woman, alerted the police about the accident, and told them about the brave woman's timely and life-saving acts, Major Sharhan said.

"We are currently trying to collect information on the unidentified woman to honour her for her heroic acts."
