Morocco- CAF to Decide If Kenya Eligible to Host 2018 Africa Championship

(MENAFN - Morocco World News) Rabat – A key meeting of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) is scheduled to take place on Saturday in Accra, Ghana, to decide on whether next year's African Nations Championship will be hosted in Kenya.

Ahmad Ahmad, the president of the CAF, arrived in Accra on Friday with his executive committee. Ahmad said that many "important" decisions will be discussed during the CAF meeting on Saturday.

"We will certainly make important decisions in Ghana for the transportation and development of football in Africa," according .

"We made decisions at the Rabat Symposium where we brought together the main stakeholders of African football for their thoughts. We took account of the proposals and will make them applicable," he continued.

Saturday's meeting will notably reveal CAF's final decisions regarding whether Kenya will be given the chance to host the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

On Thursday, the Kenyan government approved an allocation of SH 4.2 billion for the competition, which is scheduled to take place in January 2018,

The necessary financial budget was allocated in order to convince the CAF that Kenya is eligible to host the 2018 CHAN, amid speculations that CAF would take the competition to either Morocco or South Africa.

CAF's meeting agenda will also include the appointment of members of the CAF Standing Committees and setting up of an organizing committee for the Women's Football Symposium scheduled for Morocco in the first quarter of 2018, added CAF.

Fouzi Lekjaa, CAF's third vice president, is also expected to take part in the meeting.
