(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Sept 23: The security authorities in Nepal have taken into custody one of its citizens, identified only as Tamang for his alleged involvement in trafficking Nepali women to the Gulf countries, reports Al-Rai daily.
Tamang reportedly told the victim that a lucrative job awaited her in Kuwait and that she has neither to pay for her ticket nor the visa. Tamang reportedly accompanied the victim to New Delhi on Dec 11, 2016 and stayed with her in a house for nine days in the Indian capital before she flew to Kuwait via Dubai. She was picked at the Kuwait International Airport by the Kuwait-based agents Shyam (48) and Mina Lama (31) and handed her over to a Kuwaiti employer.
After arriving at the place of her work, she realized she had been tricked because the employer started to manhandle her, forced her to have sex, tortured her and deprived her of food and water. As days went by and the woman requested to be sent home, she was told that he had bought her for KD 1,600. The Rescue Nepal (NGO) in coordination with Nepal Embassy succeeded in repatriating the victim to Nepal.
The victim upon arrival in Nepal on Sept 1, 2017 told police, 'I told Shyam and Mina to return my passport but they demanded Rs 400,000 for my release and sold me to various employers and at times I was left stranded.'
Meanwhile, it has been reported as many as 27 Gulf-bound women were detained from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi in July 2015 and brought back to Nepal.
