Kuwait- MP proposes use of solar energy to rationalize power consumption

(MENAFN - Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Sept 19: MP Abdullah Fahad has proposed using solar energy in all mosques, taking into consideration that the remarkable increase in electricity consumption during summer sometimes causes power outage.

In his proposal, the lawmaker stressed the need to rationalize electricity consumption and keep pace with international technological developments in utilizing solar energy; indicating the Sun is the most reliable source of energy.

On another issue, Fahad expressed disappointment over the Central System for Remedying the Status of Illegal Residents (CSRSIR) for its alleged failure to address a number of issues, particularly the case of individuals found to be holding forged passports. He said the parliamentary Human Rights Committee had an agreement with the Interior Ministry and CSRSIR to rectify the status of these individuals but the agency has not taken any step until now.

He claimed the CSRSIR has been putting obstacles in front of these people, citing its refusal to grant them security cards. He said the agency seems keen on complicating the problem, instead of finding appropriate solutions. He also accused the CSRSIR of being ambiguous during meetings, considering it did not present any data or figures about those found to be holding forged passports and Bedouns who are not registered in the agency. He called on Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah to look into the situation of the owners of these passports, especially since he had earlier promised to address the issue.

Meanwhile, MP Abdulkareem Al- Kandari has forwarded questions to Minister of Public Works Abdulrahman Al-Mutawa about the ministry's preparations for the rainy season. He asked if the ministry has inspected roads experiencing problems whenever it rains, measures taken to prevent the recurrence of these problems, if an emergency team was formed to deal with such problems, and if the ministry ensured that all roads leading to new residential areas are safe.
