Jordan- Transport minister opens QAIA runway project


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Sept. 17 (Petra) -- Minister of Transport Jamil Mujahed on Sunday opened the rehabilitation project of the Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) Northern Runway in a ceremony attended by a number of officials.

The minister said that the project will have positive impact as it will raise the aviation operational efficiency and capacity of the airport as well as its competitiveness on the regional and international levels.

In remarks to Petra, he said the project was a result of & quot;the fruitful cooperation with various entities & quot;, mainly the Civil Aviation Authority that conducted all necessary tests to ensure that the runway will meet international standards.

& quot;Success of rehabilitating the runway, which has not been operational since 2006, will support the airport's operations strategy to increase the number of passengers from 8 million to 12 million annually, & quot; Mujahed added.
