Civilians among 5 killed in Nangarhar operation


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) JALALABAD (Pajhwok): Two Taliban commanders and three civilians have been killed in an Afghan Special Forces operation in Lalpora district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said Sunday.

The operation was launched in Beli area of the district on Saturday night, Ghalib Mujahid, the district administrative chief told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said a Taliban commander, Liaqat and his deputy were killed when a house was raided by Afghan Special Forces. Three civilians were also killed and three militants injured in the incident, he added.

However, he said the civilians were killed in Taliban gunfire. Some of weapons belonged to the militants also destroyed in the operation.

Afghan forces suffered no casualties in militants€™ exchange of firing, Mujahid said.

Taliban did not comment yet on the incident.
