Islamic State confirms truce in Syria-Lebanon border fight




(MENAFN) A truce took effect in an Islamic State pocket spanning the Syria-Lebanon border, where the jihadists have been fighting the Lebanese army on one front and Hezbollah with the Syrian army on the other.

Accordingly, the army proclaimed that a ceasefire took effect at 7:00 a.m. but did not mention a truce on Syria's side of the frontier.

Meanwhile, Lebanon and Hezbollah said they had made notable gains against IS militants, driving them back into a smaller part of the arid hills on the border.

In addition, the presence of two other militant groups on the border earlier this month, when they pull out to rebel territory in Syria after operations by Hezbollah and the Syrian army.
