Ministry of Health and Prevention successfully implements emergency plan

(MENAFNEditorial) UAE, 14 August 2017- The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) revealed the successful execution of its emergency plan for disasters and crises during a recent partial power failure at the Al-Qasimi Hospital in Sharjah. During the outage, which was caused by technical failure, power generators were operated automatically and provided electricity in key areas that included the emergency departments, intensive care unit, delivery room and incubators. Some of the patients from the affected departments were also transferred to safe areas in a safe medical manner-- transferring them to other sections of the hospital.

MOHAP confirmed the success of the technical teams in restoring the electricity to the hospital without affecting any of the patients and those visiting them. Ambulances were ordered not to transfer any emergency cases to Al Qasimi Hospital during the power outage and instead were advised to transfer them to other hospitals under the Ministry. The successful execution falls in line with the Ministry's directive for all of its hospitals and health centers to develop and implement contingency plans to deal with the optimum power outages.

The Ministry praised the Department of Civil Defense and National Ambulance, the General Command of Sharjah Police and the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (SEWA) for their efforts to assist in facilitating the containment of the emergency, citing all concerned teams in their move to contain the problem and restore service without any untoward incidents.
