Trade deficit in Morocco grows by 7.9pct in Jan-July this year




(MENAFN) Morocco's trade deficit increased 7.9 percent to USD10.9bn in the Jan-July period of this year compared with last year, driven by increased imports.

Furthermore, energy imports grew 33.4 percent to 39.13bn dirhams and spending on raw materials grew 11.6 percent to 11.93bn dirhams.

In addition, total exports grew 7.1 percent from a year earlier to 140.78bn dirham, pushed by a 7.9 percent increase in phosphate exports.

However, tourism receipts declined 2.3 percent to 24.46bn dirhams, while remittances from the 4.5mn Moroccans who live abroad increased 0.1 percent.
