BMW pushing foreign automakers to pay fund for local transportation

(MENAFN) The giant German carmaker, BMW's CEO Harald Krueger stated that foreign automakers should contribute in a proposed fund to improve urban transportation in Germany.

Earlier, an agreement was reached that carmakers and German government will contribute to 500mln euro fund aimed at helping local governments reduce pollution.

In an interview with a German newspaper, Krueger said: "It would send a good signal if they would participate."

However, the government had also included an overhaul of engine software on 5.3 mln diesel cars, aimed at repairing the industry's battered reputation.
