Kuwait- 'Penalty for all'


(MENAFN- Arab Times) KUWAIT CITY, Aug 5: The proposed amendments to a draft law amending Article 14 of Law No. 19 of the 2000 regarding support for national workforce punishes all parties which manipulate and violate the rules and regulations of the law in force to obtain financial advantages quoting ministerial sources.

The sources revealed a violator shall be imprisoned for three years and fined KD 5,000 as per the proposed amendment by the Council of Ministers. This is done to support the employment of citizens and get rid of the phenomenon fictitious employment.

The sources said Article (1) of the proposed bill includes replacing the text of Article 14, which states, 'Without prejudice to any more severe punishment provided for in the law', shall be changed to 'Punished by imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years and a fine not exceeding KD 5,000 and not less than KD 1,000 or any one of these', while the penalty under the current law is 'imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year and a fine not exceeding KD 1,000 or one of those two penalties. The new amendment states 'In all cases, the court shall demand refunding the money that has been unlawfully received.
