Kuwait seeks observer status at International Organization for Migration

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) Kuwait's permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva, Jamal Al Ghoneim, submitted on a Monday a request for his country to gain an observer status at the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

The request was made based on the directives of Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, in a written message that was handed over to IOM Director General William Lacy Swing, Al Ghoneim said.

For his part, Swing welcomed Kuwait's request, noting that its accession to IOM will help it in learning closely about the work and activities of the organization and deepen the existing strategic partnership as well as strengthen global humanitarian goals.
