Turkish captain detains Greek coast guard for firing him

(MENAFN) The captain of a Turkish freighter said that the Greek coast guard fired on his vessel after he refused an order to dock at a port on the Greek island of Rhodes.

Turkey described that action as 'disproportionate' and showed no regard for human life.

However, the Foreign Ministry said: "There is no justification ... for firing on an unarmed commercial ship carrying freight between two Turkish ports."

Also, a captain of the M/V ACT told media agency that the Greek coast guard ordered him to dock in Rhodes for inspection.
