Rio Games: Morocco's Abdelkebir Ouaddar Qualifies to Semi-final

(MENAFN - Morocco World News) Abdelkebir Ouaddar qualified this Sunday, August 14 for the secondroundof theRio de Janeiro Olympic Equestrian competition.

Riding Quickly de Kreisker, the 54-year old Morocco rider did an excellent course, with 4 penalty points.

Of a total of 75 horse riders from 27 nations at the start of the first qualifying round, the first 60 pass to the 2nd round, scheduled for Tuesday.

After the second round, 45 riders will continue the adventure to the 3rd, slated for Wednesday, and only the top thirty will play the final in two legs next Friday.

The Marrakech native, became a celebrity in Morocco when he qualified to the World Championship in 2013, becoming the first Moroccan to qualify for the competition.

Ouaddar, who was adopted since his childhood by Princess Lalla Fatima Zohra, aunt of King Mohammed VI, is the first Moroccan to represent Morocco in showjumping in the Olympic Games.
