Local Round-Up: Hockey veterans to visit Morocco

The Oman veterans' hockey team will depart for Morocco on Thursday to participate in the Arab six-a-side indoor international tournament, which will be played in Casablanca, Morocco from August 6-9.

Besides teams from hosts nation and Oman, teams from Egypt, Sudan, Libya, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia will participate in the tournament.

Mohammed Shambeh al Raisi, chairman of the Oman Veterans' Hockey Committee, will accompany the 23-member team as head of the delegation.

Abdulrehman al Raisi will be the accompanying coach and Mustafa al Lawati is the manager. Yusuf Darwish al Siyabi and Ali Hassan al Lawati are the captains of the two teams Oman will field in the competition.


Bartmani to hold FIFA courses in Nepal, Guam

Oman's Haroon al Bartmani, an experienced FIFA and AFC goalkeeping instructor, will hold a FIFA goalkeeping course in Kathmandu, Nepal from August 7-11.

Bartmani has been nominated by the development committee of the FIFA, the world football governing body, to conduct the course, which will be followed by another course in Guam, from August 13-15.

Around 30 goalkeepers are expected to take part in the two courses.
