(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Senegalese President, Macky Sall has declared support for Morocco's request to rejoin the African Union.
'Morocco has decided to come back and has requested that international constitutional legality be respected in accordance with the United Nations where the Western Sahara is not represented as an independent state,' said President Sall. President Hery Rajaonarimampianina of Madagascar also 'welcomes' Morocco's decision and will 'work to ensure that this legitimate return be effective as soon as possible.' Ihab Jamaleddine, the Ambassador of Egypt to Morocco has also shown his support of Morocco's request. On behalf of Egypt, the Ambassador said Egypt 'welcomes and supports the will of brotherly Morocco to join the African Union and to resume its role in African bodies.' Senegal, Madagascar, and Egypt join 28 A.U member states to support Morocco's return to the African Union after a 32-year absence. One day after King Mohammed VI's announcement of Morocco's return to the A.U, 28 member states welcomed the decision in a motion. Signatories of the motion include, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cape Verde, Comoros, the Congo, Cote d'Ivoire, Djibouti, Eritrea, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Liberia, Libya, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sao-tome, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Swaziland, Togo and Zambia.
