Jordan- PM calls for quick solutions to transportation issue

Amman, June 29 (Petra)-- Prime Minister Hani al-Mulki stressed the need to find quick solutions to the transportation issue, noting that this issue is the result of past accumulations and the citizen shouldn''t bear the brunt of it.

During a visit to the Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC) accompanied by a number of ministers and officials, the prime minister said citizens have the right to see a quick solution to the transportation issue that alleviates their suffering and provides an appropriate means of transportation.

The premier was also briefed by a number of concerned officials on transportation problems in the Kingdom.

Al-Mulki gave instructions to build new bus stops that are safe, off crowded areas, and easy to reach.

He said the issue of transportation should be resolved through short-term, medium and long-term plans, to reach comprehensive solutions in 2020.

LTRC General Manager, Marwan al-Hmood, spoke about plans to develop the public transport sector that include improving the sector''s infrastructure, building new bus stations and restructuring transport facilities.
